Ziegler Park

Ziegler Park welcomes the community on August 8, 2017 at 2:00pm for the official ribbon cutting of the newly renovated park.

We are excited to announce that 3CDC, a non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening the core assets of downtown Cincinnati, has developed the city's very first street soccer / futsal courts. The courts are located at the newly revitalized Ziegler Park, in the heart of downtown. The park has been remodeled and includes a full size swimming pool, parking garage, new state-of-the-art playground, basketball courts, as well as the street soccer / futsal courts.

Ginga and members of the 3CDC team met back in February 2016, to discuss ideas, designs, look, and layout of the street soccer / futsal courts.  "This is a dream come true!" says Jon Caldwell, co-founder of Ginga LLC. " Since our beginning in 2010 we have been an organization dedicated to growing this beautiful game through free-play involving street soccer. Street soccer and pickup games promote a healthy lifestyle, as well as build up positive communities. We are thankful to 3CDC and the city for embracing soccer and developing the first ever street soccer / futsal courts in Cincinnati!"

Street soccer is very popular throughout the world because it is fun, skillful, competitive, and a natural way to play.  Street soccer and free-play helps build positive communities and helps foster a healthy lifestyle. Most, if not all, world class professional soccer players developed their skills, creativity, and edge from some form of street soccer or free-play.

Ginga, established in 2010,  has been a leader in organizing and facilitating Pelada's in the Greater Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky areas. Pelada is a word that has been adopted from Brazil meaning "strip down" or "to the core." It is their word for Brazilian's use for every day street soccer pickup games that they play.  Street soccer has grown significantly in Cincinnati over the past seven years.  We are thankful to 3CDC, and it is exciting to have a place for all people to play at Ziegler Park.
